Kathmandu, Sept 18- CPN (UML) Chairperson KP Sharma Oli said the civil employees should deliver services impartially. Addressing the 8th central meeting of the Nepal Civil Service Employees Association here Saturday, leader Oli argued that the civil employees should perform their duties as a civil employees rather than the member of political parties.
Oli, also the former Prime Minister, asserted, “The civil servants should not influence their service as a member of political parties. It is the duty of a civil servant to render services to the public impartially as the service-seekers have rights to avail state services.”
Stating that any civil servant should co-operate with the government’s works no matter whichever political party the government represents, he viewed that all civil employees should actively work within the parameter of the law.
The septuagenarian leader reminded the anti-corruption initiatives during his leadership of the government- he will not involve in corruption nor will allow anyone to involve in it.
He viewed that the civil servants were at the forefront of the struggle for democracy and said that the responsibilities lied on the shoulder of the civil employees to protect democracy. “It is also the duty of the civil employees to usher the country in the right direction at the time when there was dark clouds looming large in the political sector in the country.”Similarly, stating that that his party had fought for the democracy in the past, General-Secretary of the CPN (UML) Ishwor Pokharel called for strengthening of the democracy. Pokharel, also the former Deputy Prime Minister, warned that CPN (UML) had a culture of evaluation and those leaving away the party by splitting would cease to exist very soon.
Likewise, another UML leader Ram Bahadur Thapa viewed that the definition of the civil employees should be reconsidered since the civil employees were the permanent government. He called for change in the working style of the civil employees in the country, which he said ‘archaic’ and said the civil employees should embrace modern approach to rendering services. During the assembly, Civil Employees’ Organization and the Nepal Civil Service Employees Association entered a merger. On the occasion, a 275-member national convention organization committee led by the organization president Kedar Devkota was formed.
