Morang, Sept 18 – Congress (NC) central committee member Dr Shekhar Koirala has called for forging national consensus among all the political parties in the country to endorse the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) pact as per which Nepal gets the development grant by the government of the USA.

Talking to the journalists at Biratnagar Airport on Saturday, leader Koirala reminded how the country was shrouded in darkness when the Arun III Hydro Power Project had been taken back and viewed that the former Prime Ministers should discuss the MCC and reach a consensus.On a different note, leader Koirala said that he would announce his candidacy for the party president in the upcoming 14th national convention in November only after discussing the matter with his friends.

The ruling party has been organizing ward level convention. NC is organizing its much-awaited national convention on November 25-29. Leader Koirala clarified that there would be announcement of the candidacy for the party president only after district level conventions.

Stating that the coalition partners claiming chief ministers’ seat in two provinces were irresponsible one, he viewed that NC should helm either Province No 1 or Bagmati Province. He however said, “The current alliance should be kept intact until the next election but there should not be any electoral alliance at all.”(RSS):
