Kathmandu, May 17- A total of 9,247 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the past 24 hours in the country. This was revealed in 22,087 tests including 21,653 RT-PCR tests and 434 Antigen tests done in various laboratories around the country.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, during the period a total of 5,767 people have recovered. Unfortunately, 214 people lost their lives in the past 24 hours. With this, number of people who have died of corona virus has reached 5,215.
The total recoveries have reached 345,500. Thirty-one districts have more than 500 active cases of corona virus.Among the age group of active cases, people between 30 to 39 years old are the highest with 2,220 followed by 2,014 in the 20-29 age group and 1,722 in 40-49 age group.
Of them, 106,510 people are in home-based isolation while 6,970 are in institutional isolation. Furthermore, 1,259 patients are in ICU while 400 infected are in ventilator support. The data of infection and fatalities so far shows a positivity rate of 16.6 per cent and case fatality rate of 1.5 per cent. Total death per million is 178.9.
