पोखरा — पोखराबाट सञ्चालित परिचय डटकमका फोटो पत्रकार तथा इभेन्ट पोखराका सञ्चालक प्रेम थापाले राष्ट्रिय फोटो पत्रकारिता अवार्ड अन्तर्गत गण्डकी प्रदेशको उत्कृष्ट फोटो पत्रकारिता अवार्ड प्राप्त गरेका छन्।
काठमाडौंमा आयोजित राष्ट्रिय फोटो पत्रकार समूह नेपाल (NFPAJ) को पाँचौं राष्ट्रिय फोटो पत्रकारिता अवार्ड कार्यक्रममा सभामुख देवराज घिमिरेको प्रमुख आतिथ्यमा थापाले अवार्ड प्राप्त गरेका हुन्। सभामुख घिमिरेले थापालाई प्रशंसा पत्र र अवार्ड हस्तान्तरण गरेका थिए।
उत्कृष्ट पाँच मनोनयनमा परेका विष्णु गौतम, खिम लामिछाने, किरण आचार्य र सागर गिरीलाई उछिन्दै प्रेम थापाले अवार्ड जितेका हुन्।
उक्त अवार्डको निर्णायक मण्डलमा प्रदीपराज वन्तको संयोजकत्वमा वरिष्ठ फोटो पत्रकार शैलेन्द्र खरेल, नेपाल पर्यटन बोर्डका वरिष्ठ प्रबन्धक सूर्य थपलिया, सूर्यज्योति लाइफ इन्स्योरेन्सका ब्रान्डिङ तथा कम्युनिकेशन प्रमुख मेघेन्द्र प्रकाश गिरी, प्राज्ञा वास्तुकला तथा सृजनात्मक कला विभाग प्रमुख सौरगंगा दर्शनधारी र देश सञ्चारका सहसम्पादक मनोज दाहाल थिए।
अवार्ड प्राप्त गरेपछि थापाले मिहिनेतको प्रतिफल पाएको भन्दै खुशी व्यक्त गरे र आगामी दिनमा पनि फोटो पत्रकारितालाई निरन्तरता दिने प्रतिबद्धता जनाए।
कार्यक्रमका प्रमुख अतिथि सभामुख घिमिरेले फोटो पत्रकारिता लोकतान्त्रिक समाजको महत्वपूर्ण अंग भएको उल्लेख गर्दै देशको वास्तविकता उजागर गर्न फोटो पत्रकारिताले महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका खेलेको बताए।
कार्यक्रमका विशिष्ट अतिथि ऊर्जा, जलस्रोत तथा सिंचाइ मन्त्री दीपक खड्काले अप्ठ्यारो परिस्थितिमा समेत फोटो पत्रकारहरूले सत्यतथ्य उजागर गरेकोमा प्रशंसा गरे। उनले फोटो पत्रकारिताले निष्पक्ष रूपमा दुष्प्रचारलाई खण्डन गर्ने क्षमता राख्ने बताए।
थापा यसअघि पनि ललितकला प्रज्ञा प्रतिष्ठानबाट प्रादेशिक ललितकला प्रदर्शनी २०८० मा सम्मानित भइसकेका छन्। साथै, उनी यसअघि पनि एनएफपीजेले आयोजना गरेको फोटो पत्रकारिता अवार्डबाट सम्मानित भइसकेका छन्।
Prem Thapa from Pokhara Wins Gandaki Best Photojournalism Award
Pokhara — Prem Thapa, a photojournalist from Parichaya.com and operator of Event Pokhara, has won the Gandaki Province Best Photojournalism Award under the National Photojournalism Award program.
Thapa received the award during the 5th National Photojournalism Award ceremony organized by the National Forum of Photo Journalists Nepal (NFPJ) in Kathmandu. The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dev Raj Ghimire, presented the award and certificate of appreciation to Thapa.
Among the five nominees — Bishnu Gautam, Khim Lamichhane, Kiran Acharya, and Sagar Giri — Thapa emerged as the winner.
The award selection committee was led by Pradip Raj Bant and included senior photojournalist Shailendra Kharel, senior manager at Nepal Tourism Board Surya Thapaliya, branding and communication head at Surya Jyoti Life Insurance Meghendra Prakash Giri, head of the Department of Architecture and Creative Arts at the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts Saurganga Darshandhari, and associate editor of Desh Sanchar Manoj Dahal.
After receiving the award, Thapa expressed his happiness, stating it was the result of his hard work, and committed to continuing his journey in photojournalism.
Speaker Ghimire, the chief guest of the program, highlighted that photojournalism plays a vital role in exposing the realities of a democratic society and has significantly contributed to democracy, democratic governance, and republicanism in Nepal.
Special guest, Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Deepak Khadka, praised photojournalists for unveiling the truth even in challenging situations. He emphasized that while words can be manipulated, photojournalism has the power to objectively counter disinformation.
Previously, Thapa was honored at the Provincial Fine Arts Exhibition 2080 organized by the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts and had also been awarded by NFPJ in earlier editions.
