Nepal Police refutes use of oxygen cylinders for personal gain

Kathmandu, May 14 – The Nepal Police has expressed its sorrow over the fabricated news going rounds in the media that the oxygen cylinders were being used to by the high-ranking Nepal Police personnel for their personal use. Issuing a press statement today, the Secretariat of the Inspector General of Police urged one and all not to go by such misleading information being spread in the social networking sites regarding the misuse of oxygen cylinders.

According to the Nepal Police, the misleading information was vented out by some disgruntled people being high in emotions. The statement read, “There is no truth in the allegation that the Nepal Police had taken the oxygen cylinders to their homes for personal use. It is unfortunate that the police organization that has been dutifully discharging its responsibilities at the time of current health crisis has been alleged for exaggerated and misleading act.”

According to the Nepal Police, the Police Hospital had been procuring oxygen cylinders from Shankar Oxygen Plant at Balaju prior to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Police Hospital where over 208 Covid-19 patients were being treated for free of cost has been providing treatment with less than 200 quotas of oxygen cylinders that were being provided to the Hospital prior to the outbreak of Covid-19.

Nepal Police had been joining the efforts of the government to contain the second wave of Covid-19 and to avert the shortage of oxygen cylinders, it had collected over 7,000 cylinders of oxygen being used for various purposes in its organization across the country and had been distributing them to the needy hospitals, the Nepal Police shared.(RSS)
