Itahari, May 14 – Private sector has stepped in to make 40-bed isolation center for COVID-19 victims at Itahari. The oxygen cylinder-equipped isolation bed is readied at People’s Multiple Health Institute of Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City 10. Local traders, entrepreneurs and civilian have joined hands to make this facility.
The center will be functional from the first week of Jestha , said Bhim Poudel, the chair of Chamber of Commerce and Industries Itahari chapter. He added, ”We are doing all we could to fight this pandemic.” According to chair Poudel, there will be adequate doctors, nurses and free meals for victims. Chief District Officer of Sunsari Umesh Kumar Dhakal, Mayor of Itahari Dwariklal Chaudhary, District Police Chief Kamal Thapa, Superintendent of Police of Armed Police Force Sunsari Madhab Poudel, among others, visited this facility giving good gesture to run”, said Poudel. “Our aim is to upgrade this into 90-bed from its starting 40-bed capacity”, informed Sunil Bhusal, an entrepreneur who is also a part of this isolation-making team.
On the local government side, Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City has prepared a 50-bed isolation center at Itahari Stadium situated at ward no 9 of the city. It has started its service since Baishakh 29 (May 12). During first wave of COVID-19 pandemic, Itahari had prepared 100-bed isolation center at Janata Multiple Campus of Itahari-5. The isolation center was established on 24 March 2020, the day federal government announced its 120-day-long first nationwide blanket lockdown.
”Last year, our isolation capacity was of 100-bed but it had not facility like oxygen cylinder. This time we have oxygen cylinder facility”, said Laxmi Gautam, Deputy Mayor of Itahari.(RSS)
