Galkot, Jan 24 (RSS): Baglung is being developed as a hub of beekeeping. The honey produced with the bees raised in this hilly area is considered organic and hygienic.There are many places in the district which are famous for bee-friendly gardens and floral plants where bees collect enough nectar.
Dil Bahadur Khatri from Surkemela of Beni Municipality-4 in Myagdi has chosen Rametar of Baglung-4 as a bee-friendly area where there are floral plants and premises. He had begun beekeeping since 2072BS.
He has been keeping bee in Baglung and Myagdi districts for some months. He has kept 115 bee nucs in the terraces of Rametar. There is mustard farming here so that bees collect nectar.
Moreover, the Mountain Bee Concern from Dhapakhel of Lalitpur Metropolis-24 has also arrived in the district to raise bee at Upallachaur, Kudule and Rametar of Baglung-4.
Chief of Mountain Bee Concern, Dharmaraj Shrestha, who had begun bee keeping since 2051BS, informed that he had sold more than 1,000 beehives in a year. He shared that he had known from the social media about mustard field of Kudule, so he brought 70 nucs for commercial purpose. The boxes are now on the bunds of mustard fields.
The Concern has more than 1,200 nucs, and been sending to the hilly districts seeking floral gardens and plants.
“The honey produced by Mountain Concern is exported to Japan,” he said, adding that he brought the hives in Baglung for the first time in a hope it would help thrive beekeeping. Commercial promotion is made by selling beehives as well, according to him.
