Mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan City Dhanaraj Acharya has said the dream of the people of Pokhara for 47 years has been fulfilled with the operation of the Pokhara International Airport.
Addressing the inauguration of the International Airport today, he opined developing Pokhara as a tourism capital with the operation of the airport. Stating the cooperation of all was necessary for the smooth operation of the airport, he added that works related to the management of the landfill site and cutting of Riththepanidanda, which were impeding the airport’s operation, have been completed.
Mayor Acharya shared that the people of Ward No 14 of the metropolis have a big contribution for the operation of the airport. “The construction of the international airport has become possible here as the people of the Ward No 14 provided their land to the government vide land acquisition,” he recalled.
He also eulogized Shankar Raj Pathak, the person who conceptualized the international airport in Pokhara, and former Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation the late Rabindra Adhikari, for their contribution for the construction of the international airport in Pokhara.
