Udayapur, June 3- More than 500 houses in Tapeshwari, Aambasi and Bhagalpur areas of Belaka municipality in Udayapur district have been inundated due to incessant rains since last night. The nonstop rainfall triggered flash floods from local rivers which entered the settlements, inundating houses.According to the District Administration Office, security personnel were on standby since the morning to carry out rescue efforts as floods started inundating villages. One Raj Kumar Bhujel of Tapeshwori of Belaka-2 said floods from several local rivers entered settlement, waterlogging roads, farms and houses gradually. One Jas Bahadur Shrestha of Tapeshwori said water has been accumulated up to three feet in the settlement.
The Area Police Office, Belaka Rampur Thoksila confirmed the foods in Aambasi, Tapeshwori and Bhagalpur areas.The Office said locals have been urged to remain alert to the possible danger from the disaster. Security personnel were on standby since the morning to response to any untoward incidents.Similarly, the flood from the Belaka-based Gideri River has damaged the under-construction bridge which was about to complete.
A massive flood from the Gaighat-based Baruwa River in Triyuga Municipality-11 has increased a risk of the collapse of river dam and inundation in the Gaighat Bazaar. The district administration said that it was alert to the possibility of danger caused by the floods and a security squad was on a standby to undertake rescue efforts so as to avoid the potential loss of life from the disasters.
