World cyclist Ajit Baral has rode on the zipline being run in Parbat. This is his maiden ride on the zipline at Kushma. Baral carried out the feat on Tuesday. According to Baral, this is the first of its kind- riding a bicycle on a zipline. “Nobody has ridden a bicycle on a zipline so far. It was like riding a bicycle in the air,” he said about his experience.
The 34-year-old cyclist from Pokhara had completed bicycle journey from Kathmandu to Pokhara when he was 10. Since then, he has been a passionate cyclist. Baral made up a plan to tour around the world on bicycle from the moment he completed his Kathmandu-Pokhara tour. It took him four days to complete this 201 kilometres journey.
He has so far toured 71 countries on bicycle. Within the country, he has toured on rough and rugged terrain from Tilicho lake to Kapuche lake at Sikles of Kaski and to Kuridanda and Dudhpokhari in Lamjung. Baral has also travelled 300 kilometres by bicycle on a single day.
Kushma in Parbat is developing into a hub of adventure tourism in Nepal with the addition of new adventure sports.
Executive Director of the Zipline service, Sunil Baniya believes that Baral’s riding a bicycle on the zipline will help draw more and more tourists to this adventure tourism destination.
