Baitadi- Chadepani village at Dogadakedar Rural Municipality-7 in Baitadi district has been grappling with drinking water shortage since the only drinking water pipe in the village was washed away by the landslide. According to Drinking Water Project Chairperson Laxmi Dutta Bhatta, the landslide occurred on last Friday damaged some 300 to 400 metres of the drinking water pipe at Sunarya Rural Municipality-3.
Since then, the locals at Chadepani village, which is some 20 kilometres away from the source of water, have been facing shortage of drinking water, shared Keshav Bhatta, one of the affected locals.

Efforts were underway to repair the damaged pipe and resume the distribution system, according to the Chudepani Drinking Water Consumer Group Committee. Meanwhile, the government offices in Baitadi district will resume services from coming Wednesday. All the services and supplies except for the essential ones were halted since the beginning of May due to a prohibitory order enforced to curb the spread of COVID-19.

The government offices will provide services to service-seekers day-wise meaning each day government offices will open in a certain local unit for certain targeted public of the locality. The new provision is going to be implemented to lessen the crowd forming in the public offices in the district that has recorded 18 fatalities from COVID-19 till date, said Chief District Officer of Baitadi, Rajendra Dev Pandey.
