PM Deuba insists on continuity of five-party alliance under any circumstances

Prime Minister and Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said a grave plot was being hatched against the existing five-party political alliance. In his address to a programme organised by the NC Chitwan here today, the Prime Minister claimed a big conspiracy had been designed to make the alliance collapse.

As he said, attempts to break the alliance are intended at weakening the party in particular. “Those who are giving their remarks against the alliance are conspiring against it.” According to the NC leader, the party is taking its strength and there is no need to speak out against the alliance. He was of the view of contributing to further consolidating the party.

“We will do our best to utilize the alliance for optimizing the benefits. But our role will be never for its fall. Our final line should be for keeping it continued.” Stating that the NC has the opportunity to lead the government just because of the alliance, he said it should be utilised for gain in the elections as well. He announced that the CPN (UML)’s authoritarian way was ended with the formation of the alliance. “Now there is no need to deal with their authoritarianism.”
He urged party leaders to recall the activities of the erstwhile government led by the CPN (UML) when the NC was in the opposition. “Were not we univocal to find an alternative to the Oli-rule?” he asked.
Time demands us not to put conditions for the continuity of the alliance as its existence is necessary for strengthening the NC, according to him.

Questioning about the doubt cast against the MCC, he said, “There were rumours that the MCC endorsement would provide a ground for the US army to come to Nepal, does it happen?” He added that efforts were on to weaken the party through propaganda and we all should beware of this and stand against it. With the formation of coalition government, it concluded local-level election in a free, fair and fearless environment. PM Deuba said the incumbent government is committed to hold federal and province assembly elections scheduled on November 20 in a free, fair, fearless and peaceful environment.

It was the responsibility of the government to hold local-level, province assembly and federal election in a fair and fearless environment ensuing peace and security to the people by implementing the constitution, he opined.
The PM expressed the view that the government has the responsibility to establish political stability in the country along with implementing the constitution. Similarly, Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand pointed out the need of alliance for the welfare of the party and democracy. He said the alliance has ahead for the rule of law and protection of the constitution, adding relevance of democratic socialism of BP has increased.

Likewise, NC central committee members– Shyam Kumar Ghimire, Anjani Shrestha, Bagmati province President Indra Bahadur Baniya, among others stressed the need of moving ahead together to make the NC the largest party in the election.
A total of 150 people contributing to the party remaining on different rank and file on the district were honoured alive and posthumously.
