Madi sees accelerated development efforts

Madi municipality which was lagging behind due to the shade of Chitwan National Park (CNP) has received central projects with billion rupees investment in the last five years. The trend of project flow has gradually brought development boons to the people in the area.

Previously, there was no campus for providing technical education in Madi. The Diwakar Memorial Multi-Technical School was established here having recognition from the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT).
The technical institute was established with the government budget of Rs 100 million. It is now offering technical education in the subjects such as agriculture, health and engineering.

Likewise, the federal government had appropriated a budget of Rs 70 million for embankment along the rivulets which were eroded by flooding in the year 2017. With this in place, residents of Madi municipality ward 4,5,6 and 7 have been benefitted. A postal highway from Parui to Riukhola in Madi has also gained momentum with the budgetary allocation of Rs 520 million.

As informed, the road having 7.8-km length and 7.5-meter breadth is being constructed with high standard. The construction of drainage and culvert has come to a final stage. Similarly, the construction of suspension bridges over Chitai, Ratani and Bhalu rivulets is also in the final stage. The 10-km Baruwa-Bhairabpur-Chirauli-Shitalpur-Gagate rivulet road is being blacktopped after appropriation of Rs 250 million budget from the Constituency Development Fund last year.

It may be noted that Madi was declared to be an emerging city. Public money has been increasingly allocated to develop the area of late. Last year only, budget of Rs 200 million was earmarked for the construction of 14-km road, Badarmude Peace Monument and Martyr Park in ward-2, said former mayor of Madi municipality, Thakur Dhakal. Among other projects gaining momentum are blacktopping of interior road of CNP from Thori to Bagai, from Bankatta to Dhuwa and feasibility study for the construction of a bridge.

It is estimated that a tentative budget of Rs 2 billion is required for completing the construction of the roads and bridge. Likewise, government budget of Rs 200 million has been received for blacktopping the road at Madi-7. As shared, Rs 28.5 million has been received for Bandarjhula electrification, Rs 24,3 million for agriculture electrification, Rs 20 million for Baghauda Hospital, Rs 15 million for Diwakar Memorial Secondary School and Rs 10 million for Janakalyan Secondary.

The Ministry of Urban Development and Building Construction had allocated Rs 200 milion this year for the execution of different projects in Madi. Likewise, Rs 200 million was earmarked from federal government level for embankment.
Five deep boring and 19 shallow tube well are also being constructed in Madi this year.
Madi municipality has a total of 35,000 population.
