Baglung’s Bareng Rural Municipality is set to initiate a campaign to preserve seeds of indigenous crops. The rural municipality has mooted a campaign ‘Let us work to preserve our seeds’ when local crops are gradually on verge of disappearance.
In order to protect the seeds, the rural municipality is set to run an ‘incentive and awareness programme’.
Rural Municipality chairperson Krishna Prasad Sharma shared that seed bank will be set up in each ward as part of the campaign of preserving local crops. “Modern technology will be applied for boosting up crop productivity”, he further said, adding it is essential to transfer our existing knowledge on crops to the generation to come.
