Kathmandu, June 10- The Supreme Court has an issued interim order, asking the government not to implement the Ordinance on citizenship (first amendment), 2078. The constitutional bench comprising Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana and Justices Dipak Kumar Karki, Mira Khadka, Hari Krishna Karki and Ishwor Prasad Khatiwada issued the order prohibiting the government to implement the ordinance.
“In such issue, it is appropriate to make arrangement through the Act made by the federal parliament with the passage of the bill. It is the right constitutional process of making law,” the ordinance reminded the government, adding, “There is no judicial relevance of implementation of ordinance at present.”The President had issued the ordinance on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers on May 23.Six writ petitions were filed against the ordinance at the apex court.
