Banke Association of contractors has announced ‘construction holiday’ in the district. The contractors have halted the construction activities, citing price hike on construction materials. With the announcement of ‘construction holiday’, construction of 500 construction projects of around seven billion rupees has been halted, said Chairperson of Banke Association of Contractors, Tek Bahadur Khadka.
Khadka shared that the contractors have been bearing loss due to excessive price hike of construction materials. He opined, “There is no condition to work on previous contract. So we are compelled to declare construction holiday.” Contractors said that there is 25 per cent price hike on diesel, 33 per cent on bricks and 24 per cent on iron. The Association has demanded to adjust the determined rate of construction materials in the district and to extend the deadlines of construction projects.
