The seventh national agriculture census has begun from today. Every agricultural activities including details of families involved in agriculture would be incorporated during the census. The Central Bureau of Statistics has been conducting national agriculture census in every 10 years since 2018 BS in the country.
Data was collected from April 8 to 15 as per the government’s target to focus on modernization and commercialization of agriculture by finding the real statistics of agro sector. The census would run till June 2.
Around 350,000 families were selected by scientific methods at 753 local levels of seven provinces in the country in order to collect fact details of the agro sector, contributing one-fourth of the total gross domestic product of the country. A target has been set that the census, began under the slogan ‘ Essence of Agricultural Census, Infrastructure of Agricultural Planning’, would help make the agro sector more systematic and effective in coming days.
In the seventh national agriculture census, enumerators would collect number of livestock, condition of building and infrastructures used in agricultural activities, details of production of main crops, seeds, use of pesticides and fertilizer and among others.
Details of main agro production and productivity in community, condition and remuneration of agricultural-related workers, impacts of disaster in community, service, facility, agro markets and development construction projects would be collected, said Gandaki Province Agricultural Census officer, Jagu Basyal.
He shared that the statistics received from the agro census would help for the development and prosperity of agro sector.
