Hetauda Hospital has started producing medical oxygen to meet its increasing demand for COVID-19 patients. Currently, it is producing 250 filled oxygen cylinders a day. It has set up three plants with capacity of producing the total 250 filled oxygen cylinders a day. The Federal Ministry of Health with assistances from the Government of the United States of America provided Rs 30 million for the project.
Similarly, the Association of Industries, Makawanpur and Hetauda Sub Metropolitan City have provided funds for the project, said the hospital chair Rajesh Prasain. This project has provided a relief to COVID-19 patients visiting the hospital as the hospital often referred the patients to elsewhere for want of oxygen, he said. The hospital has readied 20 beds along with ventilators for COVID-19 patients, said hospital medical superintendent Dr Ram Chandra Sapkota, adding that at present, nine COVID-19 patients are receiving treatment at the hospital.
