Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security Krishna Kumar Shrestha has urged all employers and workers to join the contribution-based social security scheme. Efforts are underway to cover all workers in informal sector and those in foreign employment and self-employed by this scheme, he said while addressing the fifth labour parliament of the Joint Trade Union Coordination Centre (JTUCC). “Now all employers and workers should register with the social security fund. The tendency of removing workers from jobs and reluctance to register them with the social security fund citing Clause 45 of the Labour Act is unacceptable.”
He also pledged to equip the labour and employment office with human resources and make its work effective, adding that the government was at work to make foreign employment easier and manageable and end anomalies in it with the help of technology.
