Kathmandu, May 23- Minister for Communications and Information Technology Parbat Gurung has said that the government was positive to address the issues forwarded by the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) adding that he was familiar with the problems of journalists.Receiving a charter of demands submitted by Corporate Province Committee of FNJ today, Minister Gurung said the government accorded top priority to inoculate the journalists and those missing journalists would also be given the vaccines with equal priority.
On the occasion, Corporate Province Committee of FNJ submitted a charter of demands seeking treatment of COVID-19 journalists for free including others. Committee’s Chairman Bal Krishna Adhikari said that almost 600 journalists are left to get vaccines against COVID-19 and asked the government’s support to vaccinate them and ensure free health care services to those infected journalists.
Adhikari also asked to announce relief package to the media industry.Likewise, Corporate Province Committee of FNJ has urged Minister Gurung to extend support to the families of journalists Shantiram Karki and Krishna Prasad Ojha who succumbed to the COVID-19 (RSS)
