Member of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Kathmandu chapter, Dinesh Dahal, has lost his life to coronavirus infection today. Journalist Dahal who was at home isolation after contracting coronavirus on last April 13 was admitted to Sumeru Hospital in Dhapakhel, Lalitpur on April 22 after complaining of respiratory complications. He breathed his last while undergoing treatment today, FNJ sources confirmed.
Issuing a statement today, FNJ general-secretary Roshan Puri expressed deep sorrow over the demise of 40-year-old journalist Dahal due to coronavirus. Dahal who has been active in journalism for over two decades had served the Janaprahar Weekly as the editor.Journalist Dahal was active in journalism as an editor/publisher of cpostnews.com of late. The FNJ said that Nepali journalism sector has lost a dynamic and competent journalist upon the passing away of Dahal.
He is survived by spouse, a daughter and a son. FNJ expresses deep tribute to the departed soul of journalist Dahal and extended condolences to the grief-stricken family members.Informing that COVID-19 has so far taken the lives of eight journalists in Nepal, FNJ said number of journalists infected from coronavirus has reached 650. The corona infection rate is increasing in Nepal in the recent days.FNJ has urged all media workers to adopt further health safety measures during their workplace in the challenging time of coronavirus pandemic
