In the wake of increasing cases of coronavirus in Surkhet, the District Administration Office here kicked off a campaign, ‘Where is your mask?’ since Tuesday.
The people here are requested to compulsorily use the mask, an essential safety measure to avoid spread of deadly coronavirus.
The campaign was also attended by representatives of Public Health Office, District Police Office, Surkhet Chamber of Commerce and industry, and transport enterprises. Chief District Officer Chhabilal Rijal informed that the campaign was aimed at inspiring all to use mask, targeting capital of Karnali Province, Birendranagar.
The campaign had to be launched after the people became reckless despite severe health threat. It is an awareness drive, he added. Those found without mask are provided it in the market place where people’s crowd is normal.
Similarly, if anyone is found repeatedly without mask, he/she is fined Rs 100.
Senior public health officer Chetnidhi Wagle viewed if all people maintain strict health and safety measures, lockdown is not needed. Recklessness leads to grave threat to human lives, he warned.
