Kathmandu, July 22 – It is confirmed that a Nepali player Soniya Bhatta would compete with a Russian player, Dolgova Irina, in judo under the 32nd Summer Olympics to be held in Tokyo, the capital of Japan, from July 23 to August 8.
As per the match schedule published today, the match between judo players- Soniya and Irina has been confirmed. The 19-year-old Soniya will compete under the 48-kg group. She is at 127th in the world ranking while Irina is placed in the ninth ranking. The match would be held on July 24.
The winner of the match would be determined on the same day. She has been selected in the Olympics through wild card.
Soniya had won bronze medal in the 13th South Asian Games organised in Nepal. (RSS)
