Damauli, Sept 24 (RSS): Gajsingh Gurung of Hrishing Rural Municipality-8 in Tanahu district used to face difficulties in crossing the Fedi stream in monsoon. Winter brings ease but monsoon often appears as a pressing problem to cross the river.
It’s a thing of the past with the construction of a cemented bridge over the Fedi stream. Built in support of Gandaki Province government, the bridge connecting Hrishing Rural Municipality with Bhimad Municipality has brought cheers and respite to the thousands of locals here.
Gurung recalled, “Locals in this area suffered a lot in absence of a bridge over the Fedi stream. Now, with the construction of a bridge, it has become easier for us.”
The local produces have got market at Bhimad Bazar following the bridge. Locals in Bhimad Bazar, Ramjakot in Hrishing Rural Municipality and Kot Durbar among others have also been directly benefited with the facility, added Til Bahadur Thapa of Bhimad Municipality-5 in the district. Normal as it may look but the real rage of the stream was seen in the monsoon, it had swept away a school-going child some four years ago, shared Thapa, echoing Gurung that the construction of bridge has offered respite.
This bridge is one among the four built by the provincial government last fiscal year, it was told. The construction cost of bridge over the stream was over Rs 40 million, informed Dhanamaya Mishra, an Information Officer at the Infrastructure Development Office under the Gandaki Province. Construction of three more bridges are undergoing in the province, Mishra said.
