Kathmandu, May 12 – Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Parbat Gurung, has paid last respects to CPN (UML) leader and member of the Bagmati Province Assembly, the late Pashupati Chaulagain.Minister Gurung went to the Manamohan Memorial Hospital this morning and paid his tribute by draping Chaulagain’s mortal remains with the national flag.
Similarly, the CPN (UML) Disciplinary Commission chair Amrit Kumar Bohara extended final respects by laying the party flag over the late leader’s body.
Leader Chaulagain passed away due to COVID-19 on Tuesday night. He was the CPN (UML) politburo member and was elected the member of the Bagmati Province Assembly from Dolakha ‘Kha’ constituency. He was elected to the member of House of Representatives in the gneral election of 2056 BS from Dolakha constituency no 1.
Chaulagain was also elected the Member of Parliament on the proportional representation quota in the Constituent Assembly election of 2070 BS. He was actively involved in politics from his student days and was a sincere and dedicated leader.
CPN (UML) Bagmati Province Organisation president Ananda Prasad Pokharel said the whole nation, not to mention Dolakha district, has suffered an irreparable loss in the demise of leader Chaulagain.
Chaulagain’s last rites performed
Meanwhile, the last rites of CPN(UML) leader and Bagmati Province Assembly member Chaulagain have been performed at Pashupati Aryaghat.Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’, Minister Gurung, leader Pokharel, party office secretary Sher Bahadur Tamang, Bagmati Province Assembly member Rachana Khadka, among theparty leaders and cadres, were at the Aryaghat to pay their final respects to Chaulagain.(RSS)
