Kathmandu, June 2- Former Minister Girirajmani Pokharel has said that his serious attention has been drawn towards the illegal excavation of river products in Bardia and Bhangaha municipalities of Mahottari district. In a press statement today, Pokharel has expressed concern over the excavation of aggregates in the Ratu river by contractors in violation of the standards relating to aggregates and sand excavation.

Exploitation of river has been affecting people living in the river ride while the arable land of the farmers is suffering desertification. Stating that uncontrolled river exploitation will have a long-term impact on water sources, leader Pokharel has in the statement made a special request to Bardia and Bhangaha municipalities and the stakeholders to immediate stop the illegal act by taking necessary action towards that end.
