Kathmandu, June 2 – The COVID-19 unified central hospital (Bir Hospital) has come into operation from Tuesday. A total of 50 infected people have been receiving treatment at the hospital fitted with regular oxygen supply, said the hospital chief administrative officer Dr Jageshwor Gautam.
One hundred beds will be operated in some days and all available beds at the hospital will come into operation soon, he said. The new surgical building has 500 beds. The hospital will be fitted with two oxygen plants and one liquid oxygen plant soon and intensive care units and HDU will be operated, he said.
The government had decided to run Bir Hospital as unified central hospital through the COVID-19 Crisis Management Ordinance-2078 to prevent and control the infection. At present, 125 and 75 infected people are receiving treatment at Bir Hospital and National Trauma Centre respectively.(RSS)
