The Ministry of Health and Population recorded 4,961 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours. The Kathmandu Valley alone witnessed 3,347 new cases of coronavirus.Among the valley districts, Kathmandu had 2,545 Lalitpur 474 and Bhaktapur 328 nw cases in the reporting period.
The new update on infection was made with the tests conducted among 15,131 persons, the Ministry said, adding that average infection rate in the test has reached 36 percent. Meanwhile, 435 persons got recovery from the infection in the last 24 hours.Currently, the country has 25,680 active infections while three persons lost their lives due to contagion. The number of people receiving treatment with ventilator support is 29, while 122 are in ICU.
The government has launched booster dose to the people working on the frontline from today, according to Joint Spokesperson at the Ministry, Dr Samir Kumar Adhikari. All vaccinations against COVID-19 are free of cost.
He stressed that vaccination protects people from serious health condition. However, safety protocol is must.
As per the plan to vaccinate two thirds of eligible people by mid January, the government did it to 61 percent in this period.
